Local beats global: estimating TP53 mutation effects with ESM-2 embeddings [archived]
I embedded 228 synthetic TP53 mutants with ESM-2 to ask whether local representations beat global ones — and whether either beats the classic BLOSUM62 baseline. Local context wins, but BLOSUM62 still holds its ground at canonical hotspots.
